When Riza Delloro heard a dog cry out in pain outside her house, she jumped into action. She knew her neighbor’s dog, Lucky, an Aspin dog, was pregnant and due to have her puppies any time now.
“I heard the dog in pain and knew she was pregnant, so I was worried straight away,” she said. Riza ran out into the yard and found Lucky had collapsed and was now unconscious. Lucky had gone into labor, but her body couldn’t cope.
