Bombs in teen’s bedroom: An Oregon teen hid six home-made bombs under the floorboards in his mother’s home, intending to attack his high school.

17-year-old Grant Alan Acord, who was arrested Thursday after police received a tip, will be tried as an adult. His plan to attack West Albany High School was methodical and detailed, reported Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson during a press conference Saturday evening.

Juvenile defendants older than 15 facing attempted aggravated murder charges as Acord is must be tried as adults, according to Oregon Live.

“I can’t say enough about how lucky we are that there was an intervention,” Haroldson said. “When I look at the evidence in the case, I shudder to think of what could have happened here.”

Albany police Capt. Eric Carter told KATU-TV in Portland: “This is beyond a kid playing with a couple of cherry bombs. It was serious enough to warrant calling out the bomb squad. … This went above and beyond teenage curiosity.”
