The Warwick Town Park still be the starting point of the annual Orange County Bicycle Club’s annual Country Roads Fall Foliage Bike Tour on Sept. 18. The charity bike tour, commonly known as “The Ride with the Camels,” will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan, and The Sanctuary for Animals, home to the tour’s famous camels.
The tour offers four cycling routes–10, 25, 45, or 65 miles each. Riders can ride individually at their own pace following marked and signed roads with accompanying cue sheets or ride in a group led by an experienced Orange County Bicycle Club member. Register at www.active.com, key words “Orange County Country Roads.” The Tour is rain or shine. Registered riders will enjoy well-marked routes and SAG support will be available to assist riders as needed. Rest stops placed at reasonable intervals along each of the routes will include snacks, beverages, and bathroom facilities. Lunch and live music will be provided at Warwick Town Park following the ride.
Dr. Dean Scher, executive director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan, said, “Each year, more than 400 cyclists ride through our beautiful Orange County countryside to raise funds for three non-profit organizations that assist those in need—from youth to adults to our furry friends at The Animal Sanctuary.”
