Flights at the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, which was apparently shut down Thursday due to a lightning strike, is slated to reopen.
“BWI Marshall Airport is Open. Two Runways remain closed but air traffic is moving,” the airport tweeted.
Adam May with Al Jazeera America reported that the Federal Aviation Administration approved the BWI to be reopened.
“Flights to resume shortly. Crowds break into Applause,” he tweeted.
A control tower apparently was hit by lightning as storms passed overhead.
There were reports that two people were injured.
