Arsenal was in sublime form at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday showing their superiority over Newcastle United in a 3–0 win. But with the amount of chances the Gunners had, it could have been six or seven.

Robin van Persie was the first to score with a penalty shot. He then scored the second by linking up with a pass from Emmanuel Adebayor just before half time. Denilson then put the game beyond the Magpies on the hour mark. Van Persie did not finish the game as he took a knock from a wayward tackle after taking a shot on goal. Cesc Fabregas knotched up his 200th appearance for the North Londoners at the age of 21.

Tottenham Hotspur have signed  Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow, which could now pave the way for Dimitar Berbatov to make his desired move to Manchester United.

On the heels of the signing, Tottenham visited Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea in a London derby match and held them to 1–1 draw. Chelsea dropped their first points of the season but still remain top of the table. Berbatov was absent from the match and Pavlyuchenko could make his appearance in the next Spurs game.

West Ham find themselves in the top five which is the best start they have had to a season in over a decade after beating Blackburn 4–1.  The pressure has not dropped from the fans who are still not happy and continue to pile the pressure on manager Alan Curbishley.

Middlesbrough is now sixth in the table after beating Premier League new comers Stoke 2–1.

Manchester City beat Sunderland 3–0 after Shaun Wright-Phillips scored two, marking his triumphant return to the Manchester club after having played at Chelsea for the last three seasons.

Liverpool, who has gained more points against Aston Villa than any other team in their history, could only manage a goalless draw at Villa Park which sees them now at second place in the table.
