Kris Jenkins drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win April 4’s NCAA championship game and Villanova University students went crazy—literally.
First, the university cancelled all classes in celebration for their men’s team championship victory.
And then—the mischief.
According to local authorities, six people were arrested and more than 30 were injured as a result of celebrations from the school’s first championship take-home in more than 30 years.
In one of those six arrests, the perpetrator was accused of assault on a police horse. As of April 5, there are no further details on other arrests or injuries.
A strip of bars and restaurants near the campus housed hundreds of university students as well as police dressed for the occasion (riot gear).
Posts to different social media sites show students celebrating excessively—videos show evidence of small fires started in the streets nearby.
