An unofficial port of Google’s latest Android OS is available for HTC One M7.

The official Android L preview was released on June 26 for developers on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi only models.

Since then, XDAdevelopers have came up with a port of Android L for the Nexus 4, and most recently they have come up with a port for the HTC One M7.

XDAdevelopers point out that the unofficial port is still in alpha, and some features don’t work, such as the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sensors (with the exception of GPS), camera, and sound features.

HTC One M7 owners who prefer to wait for the official version to be released might have to wait for quite a bit, though.

LlabTooFer released a list which suggests that Android L will be released for the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 anywhere from October 2014 to December 2014.

Also, HTC released a statement about the Android L: “HTC is excited about the new features in Android L and we can’t wait to share them with our customers. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible.

“We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 in regions worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices.”

Given that the new Nexus 8 is slated for a Q3 release — that is, July, August, or September — and that all Nexus hardware come with new Android software, this means that the Q4 roll out of Android L for the HTC One devices is very likely to take place.
