Samsung has been rolling out the Google Android KitKat 4.4 update since January 2014, but not all mobile devices have the update yet.

Google first announced the Android KitKat 4.4 in October 2013, and Samsung started releasing the update for the Note 3 in January 2014, the Galaxy S4 in February, and the the Note 2 and S3 in May.

Here is the current status of Samsung’s Android KitKat 4.4 roll out.

Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update has seen a piecemeal release so far.

In the United States, carriers Virgin Mobile, Sprint, and Boost have released the Android KitKat 4.4.2 update over the month of May.

U.S. Cellular, AT&T, and Verizon have yet to roll out Android KitKat 4.4 to their customers.

Outside the US, Rogers in Canada and Vodafone Australia have confirmed the update.

It is uncertain if Galaxy S3 users will get the recently released KitKat 4.4.3 update.

Galaxy S4

Most carriers in the United States have already rolled out the Android KitKat 4.4. update to their customers.

On June 6th, the AT&T Galaxy S4 Active Android 4.4 KitKat update was redeployed, about six weeks after AT&T halted its release. This relaunched update includes copy and paste improvements, makes it easier to insert pictures and videos in messages or emails, allows camera app access from the lock screen, and improves general call reliability.

Internationally, Vodafone Australia will still roll out the update in June, while Aussie carrier Optus has delayed the update release to July.

Tesltra customers, however, will have to wait, as the carrier has not announced KitKat 4.4 update as yet. Also, C Spire and MetroPCS have yet to release the latest Android update.

Note 3

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update has fully rolled out in the United States and Canada.

The update has only recently be available to SM-N900 users in Chile, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Morocco, as well as the SM-7005 users in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Australian carriers Telstra and Optus will carry on rolling out the Android KitKat 4.4.2 update in July, while Vodafone Australia will push its update a month earlier in June.

Note 2

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is being released rather slowly, in particular, for the GT-N7100 and GT-N7105 models.

In the United States, Sprint is the first carrier to roll out the KitKat 4.4.2 update for their customers.

Vodafone Australia and French carrier SFR should roll out the update in June.

Australian carrier Optus will only push the update out in July.

Rogers in Canada and Vodafone Spain have confirmed that they will roll out the update, but neither have given a specific release date.
