District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine is opening an investigation into whether Republican governors are misleading illegal immigrants into transporting them to places like Washington.

According to a report by ProPublica and The Texas Tribune, Racine told the outlets that his investigators interviewed illegal aliens who “talked persuasively about being misled, with talk about promised services” by the trip organizers before boarding buses for Washington. Racine did not offer any further explanations or specifics about the nature of the inquiry.
