Jaffa, at the southern edge of Tel Aviv, is believed to be the oldest port in the world and is mentioned in various ancient works, including the Bible. Over the centuries, Jaffa was the scene of fierce battles. The city was conquered in different periods by King David, King Richard the Lionheart, Saladin, and Napoleon Bonaparte.

Nowadays the old city of Jaffa is a blend of both Muslim, Christian, and Jewish cultures and traditions. Jaffa’s location close to the modern, dynamic metropolis of Tel Aviv makes its special atmosphere even more vivid. Jaffa’s renovated sea front, picturesque ancient stone houses, colorful marketplace, unique cafés and restaurants, exhibition halls, and romantic gardens, has made the ancient town a destination for tourists and local residents.
