Angelina Pressley, a 27-year-old mother from Okolona, Ky., was shot and killed outside her apartment complex during the early morning hours of Mother’s Day.

Her 8-year-old son was standing next to his mother when she was shot by an unknown gunman, and he witnessed the entire incident.

Neighbor Brandy Gregory ran to the boy, and told him: “You just got to breath, there’s a good chance Jesus is not ready for Mommy, Mommy will be back,' according to WLKY.

Gregory believes she heard two gunshots.

Police and family members say the duo were on their way home from a Derby party when the man, waiting in a perking lot, approached Pressley and fired multiple shots and then fled.

“He purchased a necklace for her earlier in the week and he was really looking forward to giving it to her on Mother’s Day.  At the time I don’t think he understood the gravity of the situation.  I don’t think he was aware his mother has passed,” said Lt. Todd Kessinger, of the Louisville Metro Police Department, according to WLKY.

“We made every effort to reach every person that was there, that could have witnessed the incident, but today we’re asking that if there’s somebody that has information that we didn’t speak to or if there’s somebody that knows something to go ahead and reach out to us and call us,” according to WLKY, citing Kessinger.

There has been no named suspect, or motive, or arrests made in the case—and police are asking for the public’s assistance.

Anyone with information has been advised to call the tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673).

The boy, who is now under the care of family members, had a gift ready to give to his mother to celebrate Mother’s Day—a necklace.

Friends established a GoFundMe page to support Pressley’s young son, Darrien.

“As you are well aware Angelina was killed in a cowardly act... We are asking for donations to help assist with this wonderful young man that was left behind.... Anything is greatly appreciated,” an excerpt on the page says.

“Angelina was a long time employee of JCPS where she loved to work with her children. We would get daily stories about the exciting things her kids did. Angelina loved helping people and wanted to even start a back to school drive to help kids in need. Angelina literally had a heart of gold as you all may know . Any amount will go directly to Darrien to pay for bills and get him his needs as his mother is no longer able to do so,” the GoFundMe page says.

So far, $718 has been raised.

Reports say Pressley was soon to be engaged and a Facebook post by friend Benea B Unique Chique, appears to confirm it, saying: “I was looking forward to your big day !!!”

A further post by Pressley’s mother, Alesha Murray, also talks of wedding arrangements.
