SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.—A trio of Los Angeles County Walmarts have been the subject of reported armed intruders over the last 24 hours, including one Jan. 29 in Santa Fe Springs that was evacuated as a result.
Whittier police responded to reports of a man with a gun and surrounded a Walmart in Santa Fe Springs around 1:30 p.m. at 13310 Telegraph Road, according to the department. Walmart employees evacuated store patrons as police swarmed the front door.
Additional resources from the LA County Sheriff’s Department and La Habra Police Department were called in. Around 2:15 p.m., officers cleared the store of the potential threat, police said.
This was the third Walmart in the last 24 hours to have received a threat of an armed intruder, police said.
Saturday night in Rosemead, LASD deputies responded to a report of an armed intruder at 1827 Walnut Grove Ave., north of the Pomona (60) Freeway in South San Gabriel. That report proved to be unfounded.
Around noon that day, sheriff’s deputies swarmed the Walmart at 8500 Washington Blvd., west of the Rosemead (19) Freeway, on reports of a gunman That report was also unfounded, Both reports came in the midst of multiple mass shootings dating to the beginning of the year.
