The new, beautiful 2022 Genesis GV70, the second rollout behind the larger GV80, takes on a more sporty personality.

The GV70 has leatherette seating surfaces, suede inserts, 12-way power heated driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar, and 8-way power passenger heated seat.

The interior is well-designed with a sporty attitude. The horizontal touch display is centered, representing command positioning.

The multi-spoked steering wheel was wrapped in soft leather, placing controls on the “command circle” steering wheel over functions like auto mute, radio, and headlight dimming.

The center console is built with quality materials. One large dial is the “shift by wire” rotary gear selector. Behind it is a multimedia controller dial.

The center console design breaks away from the common vertical column. The horizontal HVAC control panel is detached from the center armrest, and grouped into an aircraft wing shape extending to the right of the steering wheel. Touch sensors with two large temperature dials control the dual-zone air flow to maintain a clean and comfortable environment. Customizable ambient lighting further caters to the mood of the moment.

Manual window sunshades and standard panoramic moonroof control how much sunlight comes into the cabin. The power hands-free liftgate with automatic open responds quickly, making for quick loading or unloading.

Standard 14.5-inch HD touchscreen with navigation also hosts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and HD Radio. The standard sound system is a 9-speaker array.

The backup camera and optional 360-degree surround-view monitor presents a clear view of everything the cameras see.

Genesis GV70 is powered by a 2.5-liter turbo inline-four GDI engine, providing 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Engine powered is carried through by an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. AWD is standard across the line.

The fuel consumption for the GV70 is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, for a combined average of 24 mpg.

Drive Mode Select can change the driving character on the fly, to tackle any kind of road conditions with setting like Comfort, Sport, Snow, Eco, and Sport-Plus.

Handling, ride quality, and safety hit a high level with front and rear multi-link suspension plus disc brakes.

Genesis offers a quiet ride. Should you need a little company, the excellent 16-speaker Lexicon Premium Audio adds a vivid presence on the trip.

Outside, the large chrome-trimmed grille is accompanied on its sides by the sleek two-line LED quad headlights with standard High Beam Assist. The front design of the SUV is completed by the signature emblem above the grille. The exterior makes a muscular impression with a bold body riding on 19-inch ally wheels, but adds elegance with side body lines.
