The Lexus 2.0 L turbocharged engine with Dual VVT-i is capable of cranking out 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, while delivering multiple levels of performance.

The driver of the NX takes command of the road with the sport-tuned suspension. The aluminum sport pedals, Adaptive Variable Suspension, drive mode selector, and wheel-mounted paddle shifter let you feel the full character of the turbo engine. The 6-speed automatic Super Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) adds to the sporty feel and fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

Unlike some manufacturers who farm out their turbo research, Lexus engineers do their own development and refining.

You get a splendid engine with the turbo NX that provides a fuel economy of 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Actually, I averaged over 30 mpg for my week’s driving.

On the outside, there are numerous “dramatic exterior lines”. The signature spindle grille, distinct headlights with daytime running light LED strip, fog lights, and “multifaceted character lines” all rest comfortably on 18-inch sport wheels with all-season tires.

My favorite outside feature was the unique door handle LEDs that offer a persuasive invitation to come inside.

Inside, there is an abundance of leg room for all passengers, and back seat passengers enjoy power-folding and power-reclining seats.

Smart-access entry system with push button start/stop gets everyone inside and going quickly. The driver settles into the 10-way power-adjustable seat with 2-way lumbar support while reaching for the tilt-and-telescoping steering column. The front passenger is treated to an 8-way power seat.

The driver interacts with the digital brain of the NX 200t through two ports. The standard 4.2-inch full color multi-information display located within the gauge cluster allows you to quickly read essential information while offering multimedia linkage for incoming calls and current song titles.

The other connection port to the brain is the available Remote Touch Interface, a touchpad with haptic feedback which lets your fingertips navigate controls to multimedia, climate control, and available navigation. It works much like a laptop trackpad with ample touch surface area. I must admit, I need to develop some talent to use it better. Mastery is not an impossible skill for me. I just needed more time to successfully develop the task without taking my eyes off the road. This system is part of the $1,675 Navigation Package.

The NX has the Lexus Display Audio System that houses HD Radio, real time traffic, and weather, plus SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Also standard is a one-year trial subscription to Lexus Enform Safety Connect telematics that includes Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Locator, Emergency Assistance Button, and Enhanced Roadside Assistance.

The base price for the NX 200t with F Sport Package is $38,965. This price includes several sporty goodies, such as sport-tuned suspension, F Sport seats, steering wheel paddle shifters, aluminum sport pedals, F Sport front grille, and F Sport 18-inch alloy wheels.

The NX 200t has a throaty sound that quickly responds when you challenge the turbocharged engine. The paddle shifters optimize the driving performance while the suspension keeps you on the road with little swagger in the corners. When in the straightaway with the gas pedal down, your heart will leap with excitement.
