The 2014 New York Veterans Day Parade Opening Ceremony presented by United War Veterans Council, Inc., commenced Tuesday, November 11, 10:00 a.m. at Madison Square Park, New York. The event included a wreath laying ceremony honoring veterans who gave their lives for America; featured the United States Marine Corps; remarks by this year’s Grand Marshal former NYPD commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, Vietnam War; South Korean Ambassador for the U.S. Son Se-joo; U.S. Representative for New York, 13th Congressional District, Charles B. Rangel, Bronze Star & Purple Heart Medal recipient; and U.S. Senator for New York Charles E. (Chuck) Schumer.
