Two teenagers were killed in North Carolina after a driver hit them, then fled the scene.

The hit-and-run near a convenience store in Harnett County left a third teen, 14-year-old Steven Daniels of Sanford, critically injured but in stable condition.

The two teens who died were 13-year-old Jennifer Schark and 16-year-old Kyle Straight of Broadway.

They had gone to a Kangaroo gas station to get snacks and drinks and “were returning to one of the teen’s residence when they were struck,” according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The vehicle that struck the teens was reportedly a light-colored SUV.

“At this time, investigators are attempting to determine the exact make and model of the suspect vehicle and will be reviewing area surveillance cameras from nearby businesses,” the patrol said.
