NEW YORK—Riders of the No. 7 subway line will need to seek alternatives for the next five weekends because the No. 7 trains will not run between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square-42 Street.

Beginning at 11:45 p.m. Friday Oct. 5, part of the line will shut down for the installation of a new signal system, which will allow more trains to run each hour. The No. 7 line is the second, after the L line, to receive the new signal system.

In addition to closures this weekend, closures will take place Oct. 19 through Oct. 22; Oct. 26 through Oct. 29; Nov. 9 through Nov. 12; Nov. 16 through Nov. 19; and one weeknight, Oct. 29.

Riders can use the E, F, or N lines, or take free shuttle buses as alternatives.
