MTA Officers Catch Alleged Bank Robber

NEW YORK—Two Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officers caught an alleged bank robber after recognizing him from a wanted poster.

The nab took place Friday while the suspect was waiting to board a New Haven Line Metro North train at the Harlem-125th Street station.

The man, from Connecticut, is suspected in one robbery Friday at 10.55 a.m. at a Chase branch at 1495 York Ave., and an attempted robbery 10 minutes later at a Citibank at 171 E. 72nd St.

He is also suspected of being connected to six previous bank robberies in Manhattan.

The man had more than $6,800 in cash on him and a small amount of heroin, but no weapon. The

case is ongoing.
