Dog shoots owner: A man in Florida was wounded after his dog shot him in the leg with a pistol while they were driving.
A Florida man was shot and injured by his dog over the weekend, it was reported. The man walked away without any serious injuries.
Gregory Lanier, 35, was shot after his dog kicked a loaded gun while they were riding in his truck, reported Highlands Today. The gun, which was positioned on the floor, then shot him in the leg.
Police said the shooting was accidental, while Lainer said he was not sure if the gun was loaded before it shot him, according to the publication. Police did not arrest the dog.
“His dog kicked his unloaded .380 pistol causing it to fire and the bullet struck his leg. Lanier said he heard boom, saw smoke and felt a burning in his leg,” Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr was quoted as saying.
It was later reported that the weapon was actually a 9mm pistol.
In December 2011, a dog accidentally shot its owner in Florida. Billy E. Brown, 78, was shot in the leg by his dog when he drove to a deer hunting area in Pasco County.
And last week, a woman in St. Petersburg, Florida, was injured after she was shot by her friend’s oven while she tried to cook waffles, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Aalaya Walker began pre-heating the oven, but she was not aware that her friend had a .45-caliber Glock 21 magazine stored inside. The magazine then exploded, hitting Walker with casing fragments. She took a bus to the hospital, and was then treated and released.
