BOSTON—Model and actress Naira Zakaryan attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Boston Opera House on Monday evening expecting it to be colorful. It was even more captivating than she had thought, she said afterward.

“I really enjoyed it. I felt that it was very well-choreographed and very well-put-together in terms of costumes and the whole show. I really enjoyed it,” she said.

Ms. Zakaryan was accompanied to the show by Olga Fishman, who dances, and Michael O’Reilly, a lawyer.

Drawing from her background in dance, Ms. Fishman was mesmerized by the choreography and how the dancers were synchronized as they performed the challenging movements.

Ms. Fishman said she noticed that everybody does the same movements. It was great, she said. “I loved it.”

What caught her attention the most, Ms. Fishman said, was how everything the dancers do is so symmetrical. “It’s really great. I really enjoyed it,” she said.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts presents classical Chinese dance and music. The dance company has a number of features that make it unique, such as the orchestra that accompanies the dancers with original scores and comprises both Western and Eastern instruments, as well as state-of-the art animated digital backdrops that set the stage.

Ms. Fishman said she was highly impressed with the backdrop and how it allowed for interaction between the dancers on the stage and the animated scenes.

Mr. O’Reilly expressed the same enthusiasm. “I also liked the scenery, and the players [dancers] coming out of the scenery and onto the stage,” he said.

“That was incredible,” Ms. Zakaryan agreed.
