Shen Yun Performing Arts kicked off its 2013 season in December 2012, and in just one month, the New York-based Chinese music and dance company has given over 56 performances to over 80,000 audience members in North and South America, 80 percent of which have been a full house.
With three companies touring the world simultaneously, Shen Yun is able to reach theatergoers in all corners of the globe. The company’s mission is to restore and revive traditional Chinese culture, which was all but lost during the Chinese Communist Party’s Cultural Revolution during the 1960s and 1970s.
From Jan. 18 through Jan. 27, Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company will perform in Costa Mesa at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, in Thousand Oaks at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and in downtown Los Angeles at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
