CHARLOTTE, N.C—Felecia Risso, a teacher in Charlotte from Chilead, said that she would like for her school children to be able to see Shen Yun Performing Arts. “It’s so beautiful,” she said. Mrs. Risso attended Shen Yun at the Knight Theater on Jan. 27 matinee.

Ms. Risso enjoyed the different aspects of the performance: “The music, the costumes, the dances, the background, everything,” she said.

Based in New York, Shen Yun presents 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through classical Chinese music and dance.

According to Shen Yun’s website, the divine culture blossomed in the land of China. “Mankind’s treasure was nearly lost, but through captivating music and dance, Shen Yun is bringing a divine culture back to life.”

Ms. Risso found the traditional Chinese culture portrayed through Shen Yun engaging.

“It’s really good that they do this tour, this company, so we can see that,” she said.

Ms. Risso hopes that children in Chile can see Shen Yun. “The children [from there] would love this,” she said.

Shen Yun ‘Extremely Graceful’

Laura Handy, an administrator, attended Shen Yun with her retired parents, John and Marsha Starkey from Morrisville, N.C at the Knight Theater on Jan. 27 matinee.

Ms. Handy thought Shen Yun was wonderful. “Really nice—we really enjoyed it,” she said. Mrs. Starkey said it was spectacular.

Ms. Handy said she was impressed with classical Chinese dance and through Shen Yun she discovered the spirituality embedded in the ancient Chinese culture.

“We really liked the upbeat dances as well; it was just very dynamic,” she said.

Ms. Handy’s mother, Ms. Starkey, described the performance as “extremely graceful.”

Mr. Stakey said that the Shen Yun artists and genuine Chinese culture is full of good thought. “It was good—very good,” he said.
