Austria’s Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a capsule in the stratosphere and barreled toward Earth at 729 miles per hour in a 24-mile free fall on Oct. 14.

For the Red Bull Stratos project, Baumgartner landed safely in Roswell, N. M. to become the first man to break the speed of sound in free fall.
