On the 17th of February 2013 Color Run, a 5k run where participants are covered head to toe in colored powders just for fun, took over Langley Park, Perth, Western Australia. More than 10,000 people come through the gates for a morning of colorful festivities.

As a photographer, Color Run was no easy feat to capture. The powder was extremely tiny and everywhere, the action is fast and with little time to line up a shot, you have to always think on your feet and go with instinct and all while trying to avoid damage to your camera.

I am a strong believer in the idea of a photographer not only to capturing life but participating as well. So like everyone with $5000 worth of photographic gear hanging off their bodies and thousands of color-covered masses storming at them, I dove right in.

The intensity of the run was awesome and the spirit even better. People where running to raise money for charity or to have a good time with friends and family. The Color Run staff also embodied this high energy and positive outlook that started off at 10 on the Richter scale and finish at 11 by days end.

My camera may never thank me for the battering it took and I am still digging out colored granules, but a story is best told from first-hand experience. I hope you enjoy my images and wish my camera’s sensor some luck.
