Superstar LeBron James and his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson have set a wedding date, asking their friends and family to make time for the weekend between Sept. 13 and Sept. 15.
Celebrity news website TMZ got a copy of the “Save The Weekend” invitation cards issued by James and Brinson, which says it will be “for the wedding” of the two in San Diego. And, it added, there will be “a formal invitation to follow.”
The September date makes sense as it does not interfere with the 2013-2014 NBA season.
The note also features a cartoon of the family dressed up and piloting a plane to their wedding.
James, 28, and Brinson are high school sweethearts. They got engaged on New Year’s Eve in 2011. They have two children together.

When James asked her if they wanted to get married, Miami Heat teammate Chris Bosh recalled the scene.
“It was beautiful. I told him, ‘Good luck,’” Bosh said, according to the Daily Mail tabloid. “It was nice. It was real nice.” He added, “I had no idea it was coming. I just heard some commotion, and yeah, there it was. It was nice. It was real cool.”
Brinson, when asked about marriage, said that “when it happens, it happens,” according to People. “If we do it, I want it to be forever.”
