Zooey Deschanel said that she is proud of the success of “New Girl,” which she stars in and produces.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Deschanel discussed the success, according to the Huffington Post.

“Plenty of people say, ‘Oh, she only does this one thing,’ but usually because they’ve only seen ‘New Girl,’ and yeah, that’s what I do on ‘New Girl,’” Deschanel said, referring to her quirky, “adorkable” character. “I’m really proud of the show. You know you’re truly proud of something when you don’t even really care what other people think.”

Zooey plays Jess in the show. After a break-up, Jess moves into an apartment with three single guys.

Deschanel also said that working on “New Girl” made her feel powerful.

“As an actor, you have more power in television than you in film. Maybe I say that because I’m a producer on my show, but you definitely get into the process a lot more,” she said.

It’s not all good for the show. It recently became the subject of a lawsuit, with two screenwriters claiming the show ripped off a concept that they came up with.
