NEW YORK—First a 20-year-old woman, and then a 22-year-old man were shot in Brownsville on Wednesday night, Oct. 16. Both survived.

The young woman was shot in the abdomen just before 5:52 p.m, at 292 Sutter Ave.

Three blocks away, at 260 Dumont Ave, around 9:36 p.m. the young man was shot in the calf.

The site of the second shooting was just two blocks from where 16-month-old Antiq Hennis was shot and killed in his stroller Sept. 1.

The area is known for having local block gangs, and gun violence.

A spokesman for the NYPD said no motive in the shootings had been established yet, and they were not sure if the shootings were related, or if they had anything to do with the local block gangs.

The suspect who shot the young woman was described as a black male, 5-foot-3-inches tall, in his teens, wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. Police said the suspect who shot the male might have been wearing a Adidas jumpsuit.

The young woman and the young man were taken to Brookdale Hospital, and are in stable condition.
