Apparently, there’s a scam going around involving fake Facebook profiles with the name “Madhu Shah.”

Several warnings have been posted across Facebook, warning users not to add the account, which features the same woman’s photo. It appears that the name Madhu Shah is relatively common in India, so not all accounts bearing that name are fake.

One of the accounts has 131 friends and only has one post from Thursday morning. It’s just the same picture.

The alleged woman has been sending out friend requests to a number of people, The Independent reported.

One warning reads not to “take the scam lightly.”

The warning adds:

“There are about 34 different Facebook accounts (on last count) with the same name, same profile pic (attached for ref) but different cities.

“The worrying thing is, I have more than 150 mutual friends with this fake account since about four years now, but none of the friends I checked with knows her/him.

“Some even have about 500 mutual friends with zero idea about the true identity.”

It’s unclear if the accounts are actually trying to scam people or how they’ve managed to acquire a large amount of friends. However, it’s probably best to steer clear of it.
