Yoshi’s New Island, originally announced last April, is a sequel to the beloved classic game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, which originally appeared on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
In the original Yoshi’s Island, Yoshi was the main character, and he hauled around on his back Baby Mario. Yoshi’s Island redefined the abilities of the SNES and has been widely considered one of the best Mario games ever made.
The new game will continue in this tradition. Baby Mario again is hauled around on the back of his pal, Yoshi. The style of the game is 2D again, but the graphics are certainly updated and better.
The game will be available for the Nintendo DS and 3DS. It looks like the release date will be sometime this spring.
