Yohan Cabaye’s wife Fiona has opened up about her husband in an interview with the French media outlet Gala.

The mother-of-two did not travel to Brazil for the World Cup, instead staying behind to take care of the couple’s two daughters--Myla, 4, and Charlize, 9 months.

Fiona acknowledged that it’s difficult to be separated for so long. “Not being able to hug him, to cuddle with him--it will not be easy,” she said.

The pair met in 2008 when some football players were vacationing at Club Med in Corsica. “I did not even know he was a footballer!” she said.

She later left her home to move with Yohan to Lille.

The couple try to take into account the whole family when Yohan chooses who to play for. “There is much debate. But in the end, it’s me who decides, who accepts or not a particular offer,” Yohan said.

“For example, when I left the LOSC (Lille club, ed) to Newcastle, we just had our first daughter (Myla, born December 24, 2009, ed.) It was then unthinkable for me to go there alone. We weighed the pros and cons, and finally we went with family in England. It’s was great, even if this issue was shopping that much.”

Shopping is a favorite activity that the couple enjoys doing together.

“We love to shop together,” Fiona revealed. “Shopping with Fiona relaxes me,” Yohan added.

While Fiona is a doting mother, she sees the need to have a life outside of her children, including having a job in the fields of sports, dance, or fashion.

The couple and the daughters miss each other while Yohan is away, but they utilize video conferencing apps online.

As for plans for future children, the couple both chuckled when asked.

“A third would be very difficult to manage,” Yohan said.
