Yankee Stadium will host the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, a college football bowl game, on December 30.
According to an announcement on Tuesday, the game will be broadcast on ESPN, featuring the No. 3 team in the Big East conference and the No. 6 team in the Big 12.
The agreement for the two conferences to play in the game lasts until 2013.
“We all know the old tradition that’s held across the street is a rich history. Most of it is baseball, but there’s football there, too,” said Yankees’ managing partner Hal Steinbrenner in an MLB article.
This would be the first bowl game in Yankee Stadium since 1962.
