Xbox One was outsold by PS4 in 2013, new figures show.
Playstation 4 sold more than 4.2 million units worldwide as of December 28, Sony announced at the Consumer Electronics Show on Tuesday.
That number beats the three million units of Xbox One units that Microsoft sold, reported GameSpot.
Overall, that means there are over seven million of these systems out on the market.
Sony said previously that it sold more than one million units during the first 24 hours after the PS4 was released.
Software sales for the new system are currently at 9.7 million, according to Sony. Subscriptions for PlayStation Plus are also rising.
Sony expects to eclipse the five million mark for units sold by the end of the current fiscal year in March 2014.
Microsoft hasn’t released sales projections yet.
