In the after credits scene of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” that came out in theaters on May 25, 2014, a grey-skinned character caused fans to clamor about the plot of the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse” film.

The young man is seen standing on a cliff has thousands of followers chanting his name “En Sabah Nur,” also known as Apocalypse will play the ultimate villain in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

According to Marvel comics, Apocalypse is the first mutant ever born, around 3,000 B.C. He originates from the Middle East and because his powers allow him to regenerate, he lives for millennia, often posing as a God during different time periods, while inciting war and destruction among civilizations to achieve his ultimate goal: mutant world domination.

In an interview with IGN, producer and writer of the sequels Simon Kinberg, said the Apocalypse in the final version of the film will be the fully formed villain.

“Now the Apocalypse you see – that young boy – may not be the actor who plays the character in our movie. It’s a deep back story glimpse into the character, but our movie doesn’t take place in ancient Egypt and will likely not star a young boy Apocalypse,” Kingerg said in a recent interview

Apocalypse’s other mutant powers included: shapeshifting, teleportation, telepathy, and technopathy (ability to manipulate technology).

He also heads a team of four horsemen mutants, which are Biblical references to the four horsemen who symbolized the apocalypse of the human world. They include: War, Pestilence, Famine, and Death. The horsemen ride on white, black, red, and pale horses.

Also in the Marvel comics, Apocalypse is also known for recruiting X-Men onto his team, which included mutants Angel, Gambit, and Wolverine. Apocalypse also had encounters with Thor and Dracula during his time of maleficence. Other superheroes and mutants from the Marvel comics could also make an appearance in the last of the X-Men films.
