Katie Waissel is through to the “X Factor” finals, following a dramatic double eviction over the weekend.

Italian Nicolo Festa was the first to go on Saturday, after receiving the fewest viewer votes.

That left Katie, mentored by Cheryl Cole, up against Simon Cowell’s group boyband FYD for a sing-off on Sunday, with the judges choosing which act to send home.

Dannii Mingue and Cheryl Cole voted for Katie, who sang “Don’t Let Me Down” by the Beatles.

Meanwhile Simon Cowell backed FYD after their rendition of Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music.”

Louis Walsh had the casting vote and decided to “do the right thing” by voting for Katie, rather than letting the viewers decide.

FYD were clearly disappointed but said they would stay together as a group.

“X Factor” continues next weekend, with the final on December 18.
