Former Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos has taken another swipe at the governments delay in lifting Melburne’s lockdown, revealing that she created the Roadmap and now is the time to open up.
Following on from her comments online calling any delays to ease Victoria’s restrictions “unnecessary“ and a ”paralysis in decision-making” Mikakos revealed she designed the infamous roadmap including the target stipulated for loosening restrictions.
A Melbourne resident, Mikakos who resigned last month following Premier Daniel Andrews’ testimony at the Hotel Quarantine Inquiry, addressed in a post on Twitter to the ‘Red Team’ on Sunday that she believed critical thinking was allowed in Australia and that she had been the Roadmap’s designer.
“I was an architect of the Roadmap. Public health won out. It’s worked. We’ve met the rolling average. There could be a new outbreak next week. You can’t delay opening up forever,” Mikakos wrote.
Victoria has recorded zero COVID-19 infections and deaths for the last 24 hours, Metropolitan Melbourne’s 14-day average is 3.8, which is below the target Mikakos set out in her roadmap. However, there are seven of unknown sources according to the DHHS dashboard, last updated 8.19 a.m. Oct. 26.
Her recent online comments follows a post where she responded to the Andrews government’s delays to ease restrictions on Sunday, calling it unnecessary and a “paralysis in decision-making.”

Andrews was expected to announce some eases in the restrictions on Sunday as the state reached the threshold to do so. During the week he stated that there would be “significant announcements.” ut due to 1,000 COVID-19 tests awaiting results following a CCP virus outbreak in a north Melbourne it was delayed with Andrews calling it a “cautious pause.”
Premier Andrews was asked to respond to Mikakos’ comments.
“I’ve nothing to say about those comments, nothing what so ever,” he said at a press conference Oct. 26.
Pressed further, he replied: “I have nothing to say about them, that’s a choice I’m making,” he said. “I’m not going to sit here being interrogated why I’m not commenting on something—it doesn’t make any sense.”
Mikakos stepped down as health minister a month ago after Andrews told hotel quarantine inquiry as DHHS head she was accountable for faults made in the program, which is said to be the cause Victoria’s second wave of CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus commonly known as coronavirus.
