Negotiators for the United States, Russia, and Ukraine have been locked in intense diplomacy in Saudi Arabia this week as Washington seeks to wrangle a peace between the two warring nations.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump’s attempts to fulfill a key campaign pledge to end the war in Ukraine have thus far been stymied, as Kyiv and Moscow work to shore up their negotiating positions ahead of a possible cease-fire deal.
