Surveillance camera video showed a volcano on the Italian island of Stromboli erupting and spewing ash towards the sea.

The volcano erupted and triggered seismic vibrations early on Sunday, according to the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

Lava and pyroclastic flows quickly reached the sea on the uninhabited northwest side of the island.

The local department of civil protection raised the alert to orange, though no damage to households or infrastructure has been reported.

The public ferry transport between Stromboli and Sicily hasn’t been stopped.

The volcano of Stromboli is one of the most active in the world, with minor eruptions constantly taking place.
