Trump Nominee Moves Closer to Becoming US Ambassador to Australia

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he will work with whoever the U.S. chooses, while Opposition Leader Angus Taylor said he welcomed the call.

Australia is one step closer to having a United States ambassador stationed in Canberra after President Donald Trump’s nominee, former Virginia congressman David Brat, was backed by a U.S. Senate committee.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee endorsed Brat’s nomination, sending it to the full Senate for a final vote.
