A senior Queensland police officer has been stood down over allegations of domestic violence.
Queensland Police say they can’t give specific details about the person to protect the alleged victim’s identity.
The officer was stood down on July 16 amid an investigation into the allegations.
No charges have been laid at this stage, police said.
“The QPS has no tolerance for domestic and family violence,” Commissioner Katarina Carroll told reporters on Friday.
“And there can be no exceptions within our organisation. If anything, the expectations are and should be even higher.
“I expect the highest standards of my officers and the community rightly shares these high expectations.”
Carroll said even the raising of allegations against a senior officer was concerning.
“Any QPS member subject to such allegations will be treated with the same scrutiny.”
No criminal complaint has been made but a police protection notice is in place.
The Crime and Corruption Commission will overview the investigation.
