Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, to sign a mutual security treaty with Moscow’s closest ally.

The signing of the agreement, which is due to take place later on Friday, follows the publication of an updated version of Russia’s nuclear doctrine, which places Belarus under the Russian nuclear umbrella for the first time.
