Toronto police are seeking information about the identity of a man wanted in connection with a stabbing in the city’s east-end Leslieville neighbourhood last week.

Officers responded to reports of an assault in the area of Greenwood Avenue and Gerrard Street East on Dec. 14 at approximately 1:30 a.m.

It is alleged that an argument between two men escalated, leading one of the men to stab the other in the neck multiple times, according to a Dec. 17 Toronto Police Services press release. The man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to emergency services personnel who were on-scene.

Police have released photos of a suspect connected with the stabbing and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The man is approximately five-foot-seven with a slim build and is thought to be between 18 and 22 years old, police said. He was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, black balaclava, red hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-5500, or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or www.222tips.com.

News of the Leslieville stabbing comes nearly six months after a stray bullet killed 44-year-old mother of two Karolina Huebner-Makurat in the east-end neighbourhood.

A physical altercation between three men turned deadly when two of the men “brandished handguns and discharged them at each other,” striking Ms. Huebner-Makurat who happened to be walking in the area, police said.

Damian Hudson, 32, of Toronto was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Ms. Huebner-Makurat.
