Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump spoke on the phone this afternoon about the ongoing negotiations to avoid punishing new tariffs on Canadian goods set to kick in just after midnight.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the call happened but did not provide any details.
