Australia’s privacy watchdog has launched legal action against Optus over the 2022 data breach that exposed the personal information of 9.5 million customers.

The Office of Australian Information Commission (OAIC) alleges Optus breached the Privacy Act by failing to put in place adequate cybersecurity measures between October 2019 and September 2022.
