Ontario RCMP say they have dismantled a large synthetic drug lab and seized nearly $10 million worth of drugs.

RCMP said the investigation that led to the bust began in the spring after a “suspicious order of chemicals” placed by a Schomberg business.

“The chemicals ordered are known to police to be used in the production of fentanyl, MDMA, methamphetamine, and for cannabis extraction,” RCMP said in an Oct. 24 news release.

In July 2025, specialized RCMP teams were launched to investigate the owner of the business, Christopher O’Quinn, and two others who police said they suspected were manufacturing illicit substances.

The investigation led RCMP to discover a “large-scale drug lab.”

Police executed search warrants on Sept. 7, which led the seizure of drugs that included MDMA, GHB, and methamphetamine. RCMP also seized $8,000 in cash, prohibited weapons, and various types of chemical precursors that police said were capable of producing “many more millions of dollars’ worth of illicit drugs.”

Police also say they found illegal equipment and materials such as a pill press, firearms, various drug recipes, flasks and chemical glassware, and a variety of other lab components.

Chief Superintendent Mathieu Bertrand, director of serious and organized crime with the RCMP, said the force was committed to disrupting the illegal drug trade.

“Together with partners, the RCMP is strengthening efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and dismantle clandestine labs,” he said.

Bertrand added that the operation, dubbed Project Overboil, was a “clear example of how intelligence-led policing and multi-agency teamwork support to local law enforcement in detecting and dismantling clandestine drug labs.”

An estimated 20,000 litres of hazardous waste was removed from the site, RCMP said.

Safely dismantling the operation took 10 days, and RCMP sought the help of the Ontario Fire Marshal, Health Canada, and King Fire and Emergency Services.

The three individuals were arrested and are facing a total of 33 charges, police said.

O’Quinn is facing 20 charges related to drug production, trafficking, and weapons offences, including production and trafficking of drugs, including methamphetamine, MDMA, and GHB; possession of chemicals and equipment intended for drug manufacturing; unlawful possession of prohibited firearms and devices; possession of firearms and devices without valid license; and possession of controlled substances for trafficking, according to RCMP.

Liang Xiong Guo has nine charges related to illegal drug production and trafficking, including production and trafficking of methamphetamine and MDMA, and possession of chemicals and equipment intended for the manufacturing of prohibited substances.

Katie King is facing four charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offences, including possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and unlawful possession of a firearm and prohibited device.
