An individual was arrested after a vehicle rammed into the front gates of Parliament Hill in the early hours of Aug. 3, police said.
"An Ottawa Police officer was nearby and immediately took the driver into custody without further incident," the statement reads.
Charges are pending as the OPS continues investigations in collaboration with the Parliamentary Protective Service, which oversees security on Parliament Hill.
In another incident later on the morning of Aug. 3, an amphibious tour bus crashed into the gates outside 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence of the prime minister, which is currently unoccupied.
The two incidents appear to be unrelated.
