More than 3,000 chainsaws and pole saws sold in Canada have been recalled due to risk of laceration.
Health Canada said the tools were sold under the Worx and Yardworks brand names.
The issue is with the main switch on the chainsaws and pole saws, which can fail, allowing the saws to keep running even after the switch has been released, which presents a risk of laceration, according to a July 3 recall notice.
Positec Canada Ltd says it sold 3,028 units in Canada and 49,000 in the United States, and that it had not received any reports of injuries or incidents in either country as of June 30.
The tools were manufactured in China and sold between September 2024 and March 2025.
Tools included in the recall include the Worx electric chainsaw that is eight amps, 14 inches. It is an orange and black saw with WORX on the saw body and on the bar, with model number WG305. The first six digits of the serial numbers range from 202408 to 202501.

The Yardworks 2 in 1 electric pole saw, at nine amps and 10 inches, is also included in the recall, Health Canada said. The tool is a black and yellow-green saw with Yardworks marked on the body and bar, the model number is 0545757, and the serial numbers are 1 47 24 or 2 43 24.

A similar recall was made by DR Power Equipment in June over its lithium-ion battery powered chainsaws, which presented a risk of burn or fire, a Health Canada recall notice said. The chainsaws have a black handle and orange buttons with a printed label that says DR Pulse 62V. Model numbers are 414170 and 414181.
The company said that 21 tools had been sold in Canada while 7,171 were sold in the United States.
A RYOBI brand hedge trimmer has also been recalled over laceration concerns, Health Canada said.
The recall notice said there had been one incident of a finger laceration in Canada, and 25 reports of injury or incidents in the United States.
It recalled RYOBI-branded 40 volt, cordless 24-inch hedge trimmers that were manufactured between March 2021 and June 2024. The tools have a green and black handle with an orange blade.
Model numbers affected by the recall are RY40620VNM, RY40602VNM and RY40602BTLVNM and serial numbers within ranges LT21091D180001 to LT22365D060025 and RG23125N250001 to RG24252D101110.
