More Than 100,000 Oster Toaster Ovens Recalled Over Burn Risk: Health Canada

Health Canada has issued a recall for more than 100,000 toaster ovens over a burn hazard.

Canadians who own one of the Oster brand “French doors” toaster ovens have been advised to stop using it immediately.

Health Canada said the “French door” on the oven is spring-loaded and made of glass with metal handles. The doors can “unexpectedly close,” and is a burn hazard for consumers.

The recall is for model numbers TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDXLPP-033, and TSSTTVFDDAF-033.

Customers can find the model number on the back of the oven and on the original packaging, Health Canada said. The models differ in the cooking options available on the oven and the type of control (analog dial or digital push-button).

The company says that 104,195 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada between January 2015 and July 2025. More than 1.2 million products were sold in the United States during the same time.

They were sold at Costco, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, and online at Amazon from August 2015 to July 2025.

Health Canada said the brand name “Oster” was engraved on the front right bottom of the ovens, and they were manufactured in China.

The company said that as of Sept. 22, it had not received reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. It said there were 95 reports in the United States of the doors “unexpectedly closing” and causing burn injuries, including two reports of second-degree burns.

Health Canada has asked customers to report safety or health concerns related to the use of the product by filling in the online Consumer Product Incident Report Form.

Customers have been advised to contact Sunbeam Products to receive a free repair kit. The kit includes a “clip-on device” that provides extra holding force to keep the doors open. It also includes repair instructions and a QR code for an installation video. No additional tools are required to install the device, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Health Canada advised that recalled products are prohibited from being redistributed, sold, or given away due to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.
