Minister Repays $10,000 to Taxpayers after Travel Rule Breaches

The Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority found Minister Anika Wells broke parliamentary travel rules for four trips between 2022 and 2025.

Communications Minister Anika Wells has been forced to repay more than $10,000 (US$7,200) after the expenses watchdog found she had broken rules for parliamentary travel.

Wells had asked the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority (IPEA) to audit her travel between 2022 and 2025 after she came under fire for claiming taxpayer money for travel to major sporting events by herself and her husband.
