A 20-year-old Australian man of Somalian parents has been arrested for allegedly planning to “kill as many people as possible” in the city of Melbourne on New Year’s Eve.

Victorian state police deputy commissioner Shane Patton Deputy said the unidentified Muslim man was arrested in the west Melbourne suburb of Werribee mid-afternoon Monday, Nov. 27 . He is still being interviewed by a joint police counter-terrorism team.
