Venezuelan opposition figure and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Corina Machado has said she plans to return to Venezuela despite security risks, adding that President Donald Trump’s pressure campaign has left Nicolas Maduro’s government “significantly weaker.”
Speaking to reporters in Oslo on Dec. 11, Machado said she would go back to the country “when we believe the security conditions are right,” adding that her decision “won’t depend on whether or not the regime leaves.”
